Importers and brands rely on KDX to move their largest shipments.
When goods are imported, the destination country's customs authority charges import duties and taxes based on the type and value of the goods. KDX pays these charges to customs so your shipment isn't held, then collects them from you before final delivery.
Duties depend on the product's tariff classification (HTS code), its declared value and its country of origin. Your invoice lists every line separately: import duty, fees collected for customs, applicable taxes, and our clearance and handling fee. More in our guide to import duties and taxes.
Go to Pay Duties & Fees, enter your tracking number, review the itemized invoice and pay online by card. Your shipment is released for delivery as soon as payment is confirmed.
Shipments with unpaid duties are held at our facility. After the holding period described in our Shipping Policy, they may be returned to the sender or abandoned, and storage fees may apply.
Contact us before paying, with your tracking number. If customs assessed the shipment incorrectly, we can request a correction and refund any overpayment. See Refunds & Disputes.
It depends on the mode of transport and the route. Sea freight is the slowest and most economical option for heavy cargo, air freight is the fastest, and road freight connects ports and inland locations. Customs clearance at destination adds time, especially if documents are missing. Your quote gives an estimated transit time for your route, and the tracking page shows each step as it happens.
A full container load (FCL) means your goods fill a container on their own: it is sealed at origin and opened at destination. A less-than-container load (LCL) shares container space with other shipments, so you pay only for the space you use. LCL is usually the better choice for a few pallets or crates; FCL becomes worthwhile when your shipment fills most of a container. See FCL vs LCL.
Pickup and delivery locations, the number of pieces with their dimensions and weight, what the goods are and their value. Mention whether either address has a loading dock or needs a liftgate truck. See our services for details, then request a quote.
Customs requires a commercial invoice (or a pro forma invoice for goods that are not sold) describing the goods, their value and their country of origin, and a packing list for multi-piece shipments. Some goods need additional permits or certificates. We tell you what applies to your shipment when we prepare the quote. See what a commercial invoice must include.
A liftgate is a hydraulic platform at the back of a truck that lowers heavy items to the ground. It is needed when the delivery address has no loading dock, which is the case for most homes and many small businesses. Compare delivery options for heavy items.
